THE IMPORTANCE OF "BEING PRESENT"

THE IMPORTANCE OF "BEING PRESENT"

There is a state sometimes difficult to achieve, but so pleasant that it can give you mini moments of daily well-being. It's called "being present".

How many times have you been in a meeting with friends and your cell phone deprived you of fully appreciating the moment? With so many open fronts, sometimes it seems like our head is nowhere to be found.

Being present is nothing more than appreciating and experiencing what we are doing at the precise moment we are doing it, whether it is enjoying a cup of tea in the morning, the music we listen to or the food we are preparing.

Any situation is good to learn to be present in it, with all our intention and senses. From the present moment we can harmonize all our senses, thoughts and sensations, only by being present will you be able to find yourself to increase your self-knowledge and develop through your experiences.

Keys to be present:

Come back from where you are again and again:

This is a basic pillar of meditation, a practice that teaches us to keep our mind in the moment we live, and every time it gets distracted we do the exercise of bringing it back.

Listen:

When you are having a conversation try not to interrupt, always use yourself as an example and receive without judgment what the other person is saying.

Feel more, think less:

Try to enjoy an experience with all your senses (a meal, a sunset, a sound, a texture, a landscape, an object movement, etc.), without evaluating it or thinking about it, just feel it.

Connect with your present emotion, whatever it may be:

Sometimes you will have to go through a difficult phase. You may feel pain, anger, sadness, or fear. You may tend to avoid that emotion, deny it, or even constantly focus on when you will stop feeling it. Let it be, think that it has its reason for being and some underlying function or learning. In any case, it is the feeling that belongs to this fragment of your life here and now.
